Germany beat Australia to kick start their Confederations Cup campaign
The Germans start 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup with all the three points. They beat Australia 3-2 at Sochi with goals from Stindl, Draxler & Goretzka.

The world champions came into this game as favorites but they got a tough fight from the Socceroos. Julian Draxler captained Germany and led them to victory in their first game of the competition.

Though the scoreline might suggest that this was a close contest but in real, Germans dominated. Some might also argue that Germany shouldn’t have been so generous to concede goals, but the fact is that it’s international football, and getting over the line is all what is important.

Out of the three goal scorers for Germany, Draxler stands out. Not only did he captained Die Mannschaft but also handled the pressure well.

The German midfielder’s goal gave Germany a 2-1 lead right before half time. Australia were level with them for roughly three minutes.

Draxler was not used even as a substitute in Germany’s FIFA world cup final in 2014. But now he has come so far that he is the captain of Germany.

Australia will take heart from the fact that they scored two brilliant goals against Germany. Moving ahead in the Confederations cup, they will be in good stead at least in attacking terms.

The Socceroos gave Germany some nervy moments when they scored the second goal. But, loew’s team managed to keep the pressure on Australia with some good defending.

Draxler was adjudged the man of the match for this game and rightfully so, as he was brilliant with his captaincy.

Another player which was brilliant for Germany, was Julian Brandt. He made great run ups and passes, as he set up the brilliant goal that Stindl scored for Germany in just five minutes.

Moving ahead, the Germans will feel more confident with this kind of a display from their players.
