Germany eye win against Mexico in FIFA World Cup Group F

Germany vs Mexico
Germany will play Mexico on Sunday in their opening game of 2018 world cup
World Champions Germany will begin their title defense when they take on Mexico in Moscow on Sunday. Germany go into this game as the favorites.

Kick-off : 6:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow

Germany had a fantastic tournament last time around four years ago in Brazil. They defeated Argentina in the final to lift their fourth FIFA World Cup. They are again strong favorites to win in Russia given the talent at their disposal.

Die Mannschaft performed above expectations in the Confederations Cup last year with their young and inexperienced squad and this makes them a team ready to take world game to another level.

Germany though are not in form as the recent losses in friendlies doesn’t bode well but they are Germany and come the tournament you can expect them to be at the best.

On the other hand, Mexico have always been the underdogs in previous world cups and they will certainly be hoping for better performances this time around. They are in a tough group alongside the likes of Sweden and South Korea.

The first game’s a tough one for El Tri but they can look forward to the rest of the group games.

Germany have never lost to Mexico in their five meetings with them so far, winning three and drawing two games.

Team news and possible line-ups

Andres Guardado will captain Mexico on Sunday. While Carlos Vela, Javier Hernandez and Rafael Marquez are all available and will play.

As for Germany, Manuel Neuer will captain them. Whereas star players like Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil and Toni Kroos are ready for the tournament to begin.

Mexico XI : Ochoa, Salcedo, Ayala, Moreno, Gallardo, Herrera, Layun, Lozano, G. dos Santos, Vela, Gimenez.

Germany XI : Neuer, Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector, Kroos, Khedira, Muller, Ozil, Reus, Werner.

Prediction

I expect Germany to win 3-1.
