Match no. 99 of Nations League 2022/23 between Germany and Italy takes place today

Germany take on Italy in UEFA Nations League 2022/23 for the second time as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 8:45 PM (Local)

Venue : Borussia Park, Monchengladbach

Germany have not been that good in the Nations League thus far and they need to be at their best to churn out results and be effective. They so far have not lost in this campaign but haven’t won either with three 1-1 draws against Italy, England & Hungary.

Die Mannschaft are currently 3rd in League A Group 3 with three points from 3 games. They drew last time in Hungary. Jonas Hoffman was the goal scorer.

Boss Hansi Flick will likely use the 3-4-2-1 system at home to take the three points from a solid Italian outfit.

On the other hand, Italy have slightly fared better in this section having won a game and are in prime position. They will look to carry on the good work.

Gli Azzurri are currently first in the group after three games with 5 points. They drew goalless last time in England.

Manager Roberto Mancini will use his 4-3-3 formation in Germany against the traditional rivals and hope for a positive outcome.

Team news and possible lineups

Serge Gnabry and Marco Reus are both injured for Germany and will not play. While Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller are both available and will likely play.

As for Italy, Sandro Tonali is suspended and hence won’t be available.

Germany XI : Neuer, Klostermann, Sule, Rudiger, Hofmann, Kimmich, Gundogan, Raum, Sane, Muller, Werner.

Italy XI : Donnarumma, Calabria, Mancini, Bastoni, Dimarco, Frattesi, Locatelli, Barella, Pellegrini, Scamacca, Gnonto.

The home advantage should count for Germany as they might win their first 1-0.
