India will take on New Zealand tomorrow in the first ODI of the three-match series as the tour moves ahead. Team India start this game as the favourites.

Date and Time : 5th February 2020, 7:30 AM IST

Venue : Seddon Park, Hamilton

Team India have been ruthless on this tour so far and have won every match they have played. A 5-0 whitewash in the T20I series will lift the spirits immensely.

For the first one-day, India will look to field a strong XI. Batting have been good for the Indians and so has the bowling.

The wicket in Seddon Park was on the slower side in the third T20I. It wasn’t a batting paradise. So India bowlers will have to look out for.

India will look to score in access of 250 runs tomorrow if bat first. While bowling wise they will look to bowl NZ out with their fielding.

On the other hand, New Zealand have had a setback at home and couldn’t use their home conditions. The ODI series will be a new start.

The Kiwis should inexperience at this level being whitewashed 5-0. They couldn’t finish off games that looked done and dusted. Any repeat of such performance and it will be setback too in ODI’s.

New Zealand will be without Kane Williamson for the first two games and they must find a way to bat well against some tough Indian bowlers. While New Zealand will need to bowl well in their home conditions.

India have a good record against New Zealand in ODI’s and they will be boosted by the fact.

Team news and possible lineups

Mark Chapman is available for New Zealand for the first ODI and will play.

As for Team India, Rohit Sharma have been ruled out of the whole tour due to a calf-injury. Mayank Agarwal replaces him.

New Zealand XI : Guptill, H. Nicholls, Chapman, R. Taylor, Latham (C&WK), Neesham, C. de Grandhomme, Santner, Southee, I. Sodhi, K. Jamieson.

India XI : P. Shaw, M. Agarwal, Kohli (C), Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), M. Pandey, R. Jadeja, S. Thakur, Shami, Chahal, Bumrah.

Prediction

I expect India to win this game and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
