FIFA World Cup 2022 – Portugal vs Uruguay, Group H, match preview, predicted lineups

Por vs Uru
In the fourth game of Monday Portugal play Uruguay in FIFA World Cup 2022 Group H

Portugal take on two-time world champions Uruguay on Monday in FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar in Group H as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 10:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Lusail Stadium, Lusail

Portugal were impressive in their 3-2 triumph over Ghana in their first game and will have hopes for continuous successive victories in their second game. They will look to play quality football.

A Selecao know they need to be defensively disciplined and not resurface problems against Ghana tackling a quality South American opposition in Uruguay. Attack wise they need to follow the same template.

Manager Fernando Santos will likely deploy a 4-3-3 system on Monday.

On the other hand, the Uruguayans will be very disappointed to not get the job done against less fancied South Korea. They know the importance of this game now and will attack. They play Ghana last.

La Celeste have a good defence and they need to be resolute against the Ronaldo’s team. In terms of attack they will require more.

Manager Diego Alonso will go with a 4-3-3 system.

Team news and possible lineups

Ronald Araujo is doubtful for Uruguay for the Monday game.

While the Portuguese, William Carvalho and Diogo Dalot are both available and will likely play.

Portugal XI : Costa, Cancelo, Dias, Danilo, Guerreiro, Bernardo, Neves, Carvalho, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Felix.

Uruguay XI : Rochet, Caceres, Godin, Gimenez, Olivera, Valverde, Bentancur, Vecino, Pellistri, Suarez, Nunez.

Prediction

It should be a close game between two of game’s tough teams and I expect it to go all the way. But if to choose a winner I will go for a Portugal victory here. Ronaldo might score in a 2-1 win.
