England look for three points as they visit Lithuania

England vs Lithuania
England will play Lithuania on Sunday in FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers
England is all set to play Lithuania away as qualification to next year’s world cup comes to a close. The Three Lions are the favorites to win this game.

Kick-off : 7:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Vilniaus LFF stadionas

England have already qualified for the world cup and Gareth Southgate will now try to build a team that will be competitive in next year’s showpiece event.

The English can afford to experiment on Sunday night as they take on a team which haven’t performed well so far.

The Three Lions qualified on Thursday by defeating Slovenia courtesy of a last minute Harry Kane goal.

So it should be a good game on Sunday as both teams will give their all. But England certainly have an edge.

Team news and possible line-ups

Marius Papsys will likely be given start as he saved game for Lithuania against Malta last time out.

Rest of the squad will remain the same for the Baltic nation.

As for England, Jack Butland will be likely given a start in place of Joe hart. Southgate might emphasize on 3-4-3 formation on Sunday as qualification is secured.

Hart’s future remains a doubt with up and coming goalkeepers in English football.

While Marcus Rashford will play up front with Harry kane. Their key man will once again be Kane in this game.

Lithuania XI : Zubas, Vaitkunas, Mikuckis, Girdvainis, Vytas, Slivka, Kuklys, Novikovas, Papsys, Cernych, Matulevicius.

England XI : Butland, Smalling, Stones, Cahill, Walker, Henderson, Dier, Bertrand, Sterling, Kane, Dele.

Prediction

While it’s not a given that England will win on Sunday night but they certainly have the upper hand in this game. They will have to bring their A game as it’s an away fixture. I expect England to win 2-1 on the night.
