New Zealand tour of Ireland 2022 – 1st ODI, match preview, predicted lineups

Ire vs NZ
New Zealand kickstart their 2022 tour of Ireland as the ODI series commences

New Zealand and Ireland will go head to head in the first ODI of the 3-match series starting from the 10th of July. The Kiwis start off as the favourites.

Date & Time : 10th July 2022, 10:45 AM (Local)

Venue : The Village, Malahide

New Zealand after a disappointing series loss in the UK in Tests (0-3) will now be aiming to regain the winning momentum by outplaying the Irish in the limited-overs tour. They will look to play their brand of cricket.

The Kiwis have named a strong squad and they will need to execute their plans. They are a good all-round side with proper batsman and bowlers.

New Zealand have their next one-day on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Ireland will be disappointed with their performances against India in their recent series as they could have upsetter the tourists twice. But they must move on and tackle the New Zealand side.

Irish will have game plans and their first task should be to bat out the 50-overs against NZ. Bowling wise they have the ammunition to cause an upset.

For the wicket, the batsman will flourish and the bowlers will have to be accurate.

Team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

New Zealand XI : Latham (C&WK), Guptill, Young, F. Allen, Nicholls, Phillips, Bracewell, Henry, Sodhi, Milne, L. Ferguson.

Ireland XI : Stirling, Balbirnie (C), Delaney, Tector, Tucker (WK), Campher, Dockrell, McBrine, Adair, Little, C. Young.

Prediction

It’s not a difficult call to say that NZ are favourites to win the first ODI but since Ireland have come a long way and are giant-killers and on their own turf, are gonna make New Zealand’s task harder.
