New Zealand tour of England 2022 – 2nd Test, match preview, predicted lineups

Eng vs NZ
England will play New Zealand in Trent Bridge Test starting today in the second game of the 3-match series

England will take on New Zealand in the second Test match of the series on NZ’s 2022 England tour as the series moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Date & Time : 10-14th June 2022, 11:00 AM (Local)

Venue : Trent Bridge, Nottingham

England played really well in the first Test match to beat heavyweights New Zealand by 5 wickets. Joe Root was the hero for them. They will be required to play similarly in the second Test to win the series.

The English side will have to improve upon their batting as they need to score huge runs in Test matches. Bowling wise they have to pick 20 wickets which they did last time out which won them the game. Matty Potts have been a good addition to the side.

Captain and coach duo worked out well as the tactics worked and they will need more of it. England next play a 3-match ODI series in Holland before the third and final Test.

On the other hand, New Zealand will be disappointed they themselves weren’t able to pull off a victory because at times they were in the game. They will look to take the positives from the last game and improve upon.

The Kiwis were poor in the first innings languishing to 49/7 before some revival. They though did well to post a respectable total in the second innings courtesy of Daryl Mitchell & Tom Blundell though the bowlers couldn’t do the job.

New Zealand bowling needs to improve to pick up 20 wickets in Tests and the batsman need to provide the platform as well.

The wicket in Nottingham is helpful initially to bowlers.

Team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

England XI : Crawley, Lees, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Stokes (C), Foakes (WK), Potts, Leach, Broad, Anderson.

New Zealand XI : Latham, Young, Williamson (C), Conway, Mitchell, Blundell (WK), C. de Grandhomme, Jamieson, Southee, A. Patel, Boult.

Prediction

England will be favourites at home but I think NZ will be in it too. Maybe a draw.
