Germany eye a place in the final as they take on Mexico

Semi-Finals
Germany takes on Mexico in Semi-Finals of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
Germany and Mexico are set to go head to head in the second semi-final of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The match will be played at Sochi on Thursday, 29th June. The game will kick off at 9 PM local time.

The Germans have reached to the semi-final stage of the Confederations Cup, but this progress hasn’t been really convincing. They would like to quickly improve on that fact. Bernd Leno had a game to forget against Australia while Marc-Andre ter Stegen also didn’t had a perfect game against Cameroon.

Mexico will be looking to exploit these weaknesses of this experimental Germany squad. Though the Mexicans are the underdogs against Germany but the former cannot be taken lightly.

Team and tactics :-

Germany

Joachim Low’s men have done well so far to reach the semi-finals, though not so convincingly. Their strength lies in their attack and not so much in their defense.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen again should keep in this game. While Shkodran Mustafi should return for the defensive duties.

The German midfield should consist of Jonas Hector, Sebastian Rudy, Emre Can and Joshua Kimmich.

At the attacking front the Germans will be having captain Julian Draxler as the Left winger. While Julian Brandt should be the Right winger and Timo Werner as the Centre-forward.

Probable Line-up (3-4-3) : Ter Stegen, Ginter, Mustafi, Sule, Kimmich, Can, Rudy, Hector, Brandt, Werner, Draxler.

Mexico

Mexico are a good side with lots of talent. They will likely test Germany. Juan Carlos Osorio will be fielding his strongest side that will be available.

Guillermo Ochoa should keep for Mexico. Carlos Salcedo and Miguel Layun should be the full-backs. Centre-Back Diego Reyes is a doubt after he picked up an injury against Russia.

In the Mexican midfield, captain Guardado will not be available as he is suspended.

Up front it will be Javier Hernandez who will also be Mexico’s key man.

Probable Line-up (4-3-3) : Ochoa, Layun, Salcedo, Moreno, Araujo, Jonathan dos Santos, Herrera, Alanis, Vela, Jimenez, Hernandez.

Prediction

Germany should edge Mexico 2-1. But it should be a good game.
