Germany aim win against Sweden after opening match debacle

Germany vs Sweden
Germany will play Sweden on Saturday night in their second game of 2018 world cup
Germany and Sweden are set to go head to head on Saturday night as they play their second match of 2018 FIFA World Cup. Despite the shock loss in first match, Germany go into this game as the favorites.

Kick-off : 9:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Fisht Olympic Stadium, Sochi

Defending champions Germany suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Mexico in their first game of the world cup. It would have been a bitter pill to swallow but I am sure they must have moved on from that. They were simply outplayed by the North Americans.

Germany will need to bounce back and come from behind in the tournament if they hope to get out of the group. Sweden is next and Scandinavian teams are tough to play against. But I think Die Mannschaft have the upper hand in this game.

On the other hand, Sweden did a fabulous job returning to the world cup after 12 long years and registering a win against South Korea. They will be high on confidence but know the enormity of the job in hands as they take on four time world champions Germany next.

In their last seven games against Sweden, Germany have won five of them while drawing two.

Team news and possible line-ups

The Nordics are unlikely to alter their winning XI for the Germany game on Saturday night.

As for Germany, Julian Brandt and Leon Goretzka are both available and might play.

Sweden XI : Olsen, Lustig, Jansson, Granqvist, Augustinsson, Claesson, Larsson, Ekdal, Forsberg, Toivonen, Berg.

Germany XI : Neuer, Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Plattenhardt, Goretzka, Kroos, Muller, Ozil, Reus, Werner.

Prediction

I expect Germany to be strong in this game and dominate. But the Swedes will certainly do their all to make things not easy for the Western Europeans. In the end Germany should win it 2-0.
