Germany and Chile play out stalemate

Germany vs Chile ended in a stalemate
Germany and Chile both got points from the game as they grind out a 1-1 draw
Germany and Chile played out a 1-1 draw yesterday night at Kazan in the Confederations Cup. Both teams are now leveled on points, with Chile topping the group only on goal difference.

The Germans also missed out on a chance to get Joachim Low his 100th win as Germany head coach, but they perhaps got something more valuable with this young group of players.

Germany’s tactics of playing three central defenders and two wing-backs was a solid plan. Although it didn’t pan out to be as effective. Shkodran Mustafi’s mistake gave the Chileans the lead early on.

Matthias Ginter and Niklas Sule, Germany’s young defensive talents must be happy that they got a valuable learning experience.

Lars Stindl was brilliant on the night as well, as his goal leveled Germany. His link-up play was solid, his work rate unquestionable and he scored (again).

“Stindl was an intelligent player with good orientation in space,” Low later said.

Germany have done remarkably well with their young side in the Confederations Cup so far. Draw against a high quality Chile side speaks volumes of their talent.

Alexis Sanchez on the other hand was brilliant for Chile as he showed his class and gave them the lead early on. The Chileans were the better side in the first half as they kept more possession, created more chances and maintained pressure.

Although Chile will take the draw but they certainly are rising on the international level. The South American champions have been posing threats to international teams. So we expect them to probably win every game.

All in all this was a good competitive fixture where their was no one clear winner. Both teams attacked and this is what we can expect from them moving ahead.
