Eng vs Irn
Second game of FIFA World Cup 2022 sees England against Iran

England play Iran in the second Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 game as the tournament moves ahead. The Three Lions go into this game as the favourites.

Kick-off : 4:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Khalifa International Stadium, Doha

England have past shortcomings engripping them in big tournaments and they will hope to get the job done this time and win the FIFA World Cup 2022 after 1966.

The Three Lions have not had quite an excellent year this one after loosing games of football and they will look to correct that by the time year ends. In their last game in September against Germany they drew 3-3.

Boss Southgate might use his 3-4-2-1 formation against Iran to get three points.

On the other hand, Iran know they need to do much at this level since they have always failed progress. They will look forward for things in this group containing also USA and Wales.

Team Melli have been good in games this year and have got the job done most of the times and they will need to stick to that routine. In their last games in November against Nicaragua in a friendly they registered a 1-0 win at the Azadi Stadium.

Boss Carlos Qeiroz might use a 4-1-4-1 system against England as they did so well in it against Uruguay in a victory this year. They will look to cut the opportunities of English and make chances for them.

Team news and possible lineups

Omid Ebrahimi is out injured for Iran and hence won’t be available. While Ehsan Hajsafi will captain the side.

As for England, Kyle Walker is injured and won’t be available. While Jude Bellingham is available and likely play.

England XI : Pickford, Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Bellingham, Sterling, Mount, Foden, Kane.

Iran XI : Beiranvand, Moharrami, Pouraliganji, Hosseini, Mohammedi, Nourallahi, Ezatolahi, Hajsafi, Jahanbakhsh, Taremi, Amiri.

Prediction

Expect England to get the job done here until unless Iran can shed off their perennial problems. England to win 2-0.
