Chelsea look for three points at home against Southampton

Chelsea vs Southampton
Chelsea will play Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League
Chelsea are set to play Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League as the season moves ahead. The Blues go into this game as the favorites.

Kick-off : 3:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea defeated Huddersfield in midweek 3-1 and for now the memories of the loss against West Ham last weekend is forgotten.

Chelsea are currently on 35 points from 17 games. They trail table toppers Man City by 14 points. They know they need to keep winning games.

On the other hand, Southampton played really well last weekend as they drew 1-1 with the Gunners. Although they lost in midweek 1-4 to Leicester City.

The Saints are currently on just 18 points from 17 games. They are lying in the bottom half of the table. It will be another sterner test for them at Stamford Bridge.

So far Chelsea and Southampton have played each other 99 times. Out of that the Blues have won 41 times while the Saints have won 30 times, 28 other games have been a draw.

It should be a good game on Saturday as both teams will give their all.

Team news and possible line-ups

Southampton have no fresh injury concerns.

As for Chelsea, Antonio Conte will likely rotate his squad. While Alvaro Morata is doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Also David Luiz remains sidelined.

Southampton XI : Forster, Stephens, Yoshida, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Redmond, Austin.

Chelsea XI : Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Zappacosta, Fabregas, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso, Hazard, Morata.

Prediction

While it’s not a given that the Blues will win on Saturday, they certainly are the favorites. I expect them to get the job done and earn three points. The scoreline could be 3-1. The goalscorers might be Marcos Alonso, Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata for the Blues and Nathan Redmond for the Saints.
