Argentina defeated Venezuela yesterday to confirm their qualification to next round of 2019 Copa America. La Albiceleste won 2-0 on the day.

It must be a pleasing feeling for Leo Messi and co. as it has come after a difficult time in the tournament earlier. Defeat to Colombia must be disheartening but a meeting against arch rivals Brazil in the semi-final stage must be exciting and encouraging.

Argentina were confident going into this game against a good Venezuela side as Lionel Messi already said before the game that the real tournament begins now for them.

The game against Venezuela had fans their eyes on and Argentina didn’t disappoint and played well throughout. Venezuela chased the game from the outset.

Argentina started with an attack minded approach to find goals and have a lead and soon they were rewarded with Lautaro Martinez’s goal in the 10th minute of the clock.

Although La Albiceleste weren’t able to reproduce the magic of goalscoring again in the half, it was still a very satisfying one as after a few here and there chances we reached half-time.

Now the onus was on Venezuela to get amongst the goals and take the game to penalties but they were outplayed as Argentine defenders defended to potential and gave La Vinotinto nothing.

As the match progressed and reached the end it was inching closer and closer towards and Argentina vs Brazil semi-final clash.

But Giovani Lo Celso had ideas to make a statement for Argentina as he scored another and made it 2 to nothing for them as Venezuela had nothing left in the game.

The match finished with Argentina winning it and a bright smile on the faces of fans of the champion nation. Now the aim will be to go all out and win the Copa America.
