World champions Germany eye win over Austria in a Pre World Cup friendly

Germany vs Austria
Germany will play Austria on Saturday in an international friendly
Germany are set to play Austria in an international friendly on Saturday as they warm-up ahead of the upcoming world cup. Germany go into this game as the favorites.

Kick-off : 6:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Worthersee Stadion, Klagenfurt

Germany the reigning world champions have a clear focus in mind to repeat the feat they achieved in 2014 as they head into the 2018 tournament. The Germans before that will play a couple of friendlies against Austria and Saudi Arabia to warm them up.

Germany easily qualified for the tournament in Russia and are amongst the favorites to lift the title. Die Mannschaft have only lost once in recent times and that only loss came to Brazil in their last friendly. Germany are ranked no. 1 in the FIFA world rankings.

On the other hand, Austria failed to qualify for the world cup after a poor qualifying campaign. Austria came fourth in their group behind the likes of Serbia, Ireland and Wales.

Austria have won their last three friendlies including the most recent one against world cup hosts Russia yesterday but know the game against Germany will be an altogether different test.

Germany have an excellent record against Austria and have won all of their fixtures in recent times.

Team news and possible line-ups

Austria will be hoping to give debut to Thomas Murg. While David Alaba and Kevin Wimmer are both available and will likely play at the weekend.

As for Germany, their coach might want to experiment tomorrow giving new guys like Nils Peterson and Jonathan Tah a chance.

Austria XI : Lindner, Lainer, Dragovic, Hinteregger, Prodl, Baumgartlinger, Grillitsch, Arnautovic, Alaba, Kainz, Burgstaller.

Germany XI : Ter Stegen, Kimmich, Hummels, Sule, Hector, Kroos, Khedira, Goretzka, Ozil, Sane, Werner.

Prediction

I expect a German win here. They might win 3-1.
