Match no. 23 of Nations League 2022/23 between Italy and Germany takes place today

Italy take on Germany in both of their’s opening game of UEFA Nations League 2022/23 as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 8:45 PM (Local)

Italy having suffered a lot of disappointments in recent times now face a tough Nations League challenge in a group which also features two former world champions in Germany and England. They are in League A Group 3.

The Gli Azzurri last played a fixture against Argentina in the Finalissima 2022 this week which they lost 0-3. They have already failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022 later this year after loosing to North Macedonia. It’s time to make amends.

Boss Roberto Mancini will likely use a 4-3-3 formation looking to concede less and win more games.

On the other hand, Germany know they have a tough group but if their is one team that can say we can be confident enough of winning the group it will be the Germans given their prowess navigating through tough European groups over the years.

Die Mannschaft played a game against Netherlands last in March, a 1-1 draw. Germany have already made it to the World Cup finals in Qatar later this year.

Boss Hansi Flick might deploy a 4-2-3-1 system against Italy to defend properly and score goals to win.

Team news and possible lineups

Alessandro Bastoni and Davide Frattesi are both available for Italy ahead of the German game and might play.

As for Germany, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala and Leon Goretzka are all available and might play.

Italy XI : Donnarumma, Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Bastoni, Biraghi, Barella, Tonali, Locatelli, Politano, Belotti, Raspadori.

Germany XI : Neuer, Kehrer, Rüdiger, Schlotterbeck, Raum, Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry, Muller, Sane, Werner.

Prediction

Both teams will eye a win and I expect a fascinating contest, may the best team on the day which commits less mistakes come out on top.
