Real Madrid vs Espanyol – 2021/22 La Liga match preview, predicted lineups

RMA vs ESP
Real Madrid will host Espanyol on Saturday in La Liga

Real Madrid take on Espanyol at the weekend as the season nears it’s conclusion. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 4:15 PM (Local)

Venue : Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid

Real Madrid are about to be crowned the La Liga champions as they are well on their way. They will hope to win all games as they come,

Los Blancos are currently first in the points table after 33 games with 78 points. They play Atletico Madrid away next in La Liga.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti will likely use the 4-3-3 formation against Espanyol as they will attack more. They have players which can do the job on the day. With Champions League game coming up against City, they might miss star players.

On the other hand, Espanyol have not been bad themselves this season and will be hoping to finish higher. They need to play quality football.

The White and Blue are currently 13th in the points table after 33 games with 39 points. They next play Osasuna at home in La Liga.

Manager Vicente Moreno might use a defensive formation against Los Blancos given their poor run away, they might look to defend more. If they are playing to win then they must attack.

Team news and possible lineups

Nacho and Eder Militao are both suspended for Real Madrid ahead of the Espanyol game. While Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are all out injured.

As for Espanyol, Keidi Bare is injured and will be unavailable.

Real Madrid XI : Courtois, Vazquez, Vallejo, Marin, Marcelo, Valverde, Camavinga, Kroos, Asensio, Rodrygo, Vinicius.

Espanyol XI : D. Lopez, Vidal, Calero, Cabrera, Pedrosa, Herrera, Morales, Darder, Puado, De Tomas, Vilhena.

Prediction

I expect Real Madrid to easily win this game given the gulf in qualities of both sides at the moment. They might win 3-0.
