Manchester United play Burton in the Football League Cup

United vs Burton
Manchester United will play Burton on Wednesday night
Manchester United will start their defense of the League Cup against Burton Albion on Wednesday. They go as favorites into this game.

Kick-off : 7:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Old Trafford, Stretford

Jose Mourinho has won this competition four times. He will be keen to bring the first silverware of the season for United.

The last time these two teams met was 11 years ago, when Burton held United to a draw in the FA cup third round. But later United went on to win 5-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have got Southampton to play in the Premier League at the weekend. They will look to win the League Cup games as to keep the winning form.

So It should be a good competitive fixture on Wednesday night. But I think United have an edge in this one.

Team news and possible line-ups

Nigel Clough has no injuries worry ahead of the United clash. Their main man will be Marvin Sordell in this game.

Stephen Bywater will be the goalkeeper for Burton in this game.

As for United, Jose Mourinho will shuffle his pack. Michael Carrick and Victor Lindelof will likely get a place in the starting XI.

Paul Pogba will not be available for this game as he is out injured. While Luke Shaw is still recovering from injury.

Scott McTominay and Andre Gomes are available for Wednesday’s game.

Burton XI : Bywater, Buxton, Fadzean, Turner, Brayford, Akins, Murphy, Allen, Warnock, Scannell, Sordell.

Manchester United XI : Romero, Darmian, Lindelof, Smalling, Blind, Herrera, Carrick, Lingard, McTominay, Gomes, Martial.

Prediction

Manchester United have a good record against Burton, so I think they will dominate this game. Also the current form of United is great, as they are unbeaten in the premier league so far. I predict United to win 2-0 on Wednesday.
