Liverpool eye win over Man City in Champions League quarter-final first leg

Liverpool vs Man City
Liverpool will play Manchester City on Wednesday night in the Champions League
Liverpool are set to play Manchester City on Wednesday night in the 2017/18 Champions League quarter-final first leg at home. Both teams will be looking for a win.

Kick-off : 7:45 PM (Local)

Venue : Anfield, Liverpool

The Reds easily overcame Porto in the round of 16 to reach this stage hammering them 5-0 on aggregate. Sadio Mane scored a hat-trick in the first leg.

Liverpool will be eager for European success and will be hoping to repeat the 2005 feat. But they have a tough side in Man City in their way.

Liverpool are doing well domestically and are third in the Premier League. They are all but guaranteed a top four finish and will again feature in next season’s UCL.

On the other hand, Manchester City overcame a spirited FC Basel side in the round of 16. After winning the first leg away they lost at home.

City will be eager for European success more than Liverpool as they are definitely gonna win the Premier League this season and would also wanna be crowned continental champions.

The Reds are by the way ahead on the head to head against City. Liverpool have won 75 matches compared to 42 out of the 159 between them so far, 42 other games have been a draw.

Team news and possible line-ups

Sergio Aguero will not be available for the midweek game as due to injury. While Aymeric Laporte, Fabian Delph and Benjamin Mendy are all doubtful as well.

As for Liverpool, Adam Lallana and Joe Gomez will not be available as due to injury. Whereas Nathaniel Clyne and Emre Can are both doubts.

Manchester City XI : Bravo, Walker, Danilo, Kompany, Stones, Gundogan, Sterling, De Bruyne, Sane, D. Silva, Jesus.

Liverpool XI : Karius, Van Dijk, Moreno, Lovren, Klavan, Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson, Firmino, Salah, Mane.

Prediction

I expect Liverpool to win this game 3-1.
