FIFA World Cup 2022 – Serbia vs Switzerland, Group G, match preview, predicted lineups

Srb vs Sui
In the final two games of Friday in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 it sees Serbia against Switzerland in Group G

Switzerland take on Serbia on Friday in FIFA World Cup 2022 Group G as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking fo a win here.

Kick-off : 10:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Stadium 974, Ras Abou Aboud

Switzerland could have already qualified for the knockout phases was it not for Brazil into the group who overpowered them for one spot. And they now aim to claim the remaining second spot in the final group game.

Nati have a good defence showcased in their 1-0 win over Cameroon and resolute showing against five-time world champions Brazil. They will require that quality again. While on the attacking front they have options and need to execute.

Manager Murat Yakin will go with his usual 4-2-3-1 system on Friday.

On the other hand, Serbia will be a little disappointed with them not getting over the line against the Central Africans Cameroon in a 3-3 draw and defeat to South American powerhouse Brazil didn’t help either. They need a win in their final group game.

The Eagles showed they can defend to an extent in the two games despite the toughness but they can be more solid at the back given their ability. Attacking wise they can be more threatening.

Manager Stojkovic will deploy a 3-4-2-1 system.

Team news and possible lineups

Serbia are likely to go with the same XI in the previous game.

For the Swiss, Noah Okafor is injured and won’t be available.

Switzerland XI : Sommer, Widmer, Akanji, Elvedi, Rodriguez, Xhaka, Freuler, Shaqiri, Sow, Vargas, Embolo.

Serbia XI : Milinkovic-Savic, Milenkovic, Veljkovic, Pavlovic, Zivkovic, Maksimovic, Lukic, Kostic, Tadic, Milinkovic-Savic, Mitrovic.

Prediction

I am expecting a tight affair between these two which might culminate in a 1-1 draw.
