Portugal take on Switzerland on Tuesday in FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar Round of 16 as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 10:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Lusail Stadium, Lusail

Portugal were good overall in the group stages of this tournament and topped Group H. Although they lost the final game to South Korea, they will feel positive in the knockouts. They will look to play quality football.

A Selecao needs to be defensively switched on as in the Uruguay game given the toughness. Attack wise they have plenty of options.

Boss Fernando Santos will deploy a 4-3-3 system.

On the other hand, Switzerland themselves wil be pleased that they made it to the knockouts despite loosing to Brazil and could have topped the group. They know the toughness now and will look to play quality football.

The Nati were defensively not that bad and will look to be resilient. Attack wise they have options and will look to be clinical.

Manager Murat Yakin will go with a 4-2-3-1 system against the Portuguese.

Yann Sommer is doubtful for Switzerland ahead of the Portugal clash.

As for the Portuguese, Ruben Dias is available and will likely play.

Portugal XI : Costa, Dalot, Pepe, Dias, Cancelo, B. Silva, Neves, Carvalho, Fernandes, Felix, Ronaldo.

Switzerland XI : Sommer, Widmer, Akanji, Schar, Rodriguez, Freuler, Xhaka, Shqiri, Sow, Vargas, Embolo.

Prediction

It shouldn’t be easy to separate two quality European sides but if to pick one winner it might be the Portuguese. Them to win 2-1. The goalscorers might be Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes for Portugal and Shqiri from Switzerland.
