FIFA World Cup 2022 – Netherlands vs Ecuador, Group A, match preview, predicted lineups

Ned vs Ecu
In third game of Friday in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Netherlands play Ecuador in Group A

Netherlands take on Ecuador on Friday’s third game as FIFA World Cup 2022 moves ahead. The Dutch start this game as the favourites.

Kick-off : 7:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Khalifa International Stadium, Doha

Netherlands started off well this World Cup and they will look to carry on the winning momentum as they navigate through the group.

The Dutch were brilliant in the game against Senegal although they should have broken the deadlock much earlier. They will like to keep things simple this time round against a much tougher South American opposition in Ecuador.

Manager Louis van Gaal will utilise his three-man backline on Friday in a 3-4-1-2 formation.

On the other hand, Ecuador fresh from a drubbing of the hosts will look to seal the round-of 16 birth as soon as possible even if that means them to play mighty Netherlands.

La Tri had a solid defence in their win against the Qatari, but can they stand firm against the dutch that remains to be seen. They will look to hit on the counter.

Manager, Gustav Alfaro will likely deploy a four-man defence on Friday in a 4-4-2 system.

Team news and possible lineups

Enner Valencia is doubtful ahead of the Netherlands clash for Ecuador. While Jeremy Sarmiento is available and might play.

As for the Dutch, Memphis Depay and Marten de Roon are both available and might start.

Netherlands XI : Noppert, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Ake, Dumfries, F. de Jong, Berghuis, Blind, Gakpo, Depay, Bergwijn.

Ecuador XI : Galindez, Preciado, Torres, Hincapié, Estupinan, Plata, Caicedo, Mendez, Ibarra, Sarmiento, Valencia.

Prediction

I think the dutch are firm favourites to win this one but they can’t be complacent and look to get the job done against a tough Ecuadorian side. Maybe 2-1.
