England have so far had a good World Cup and they will want to carry on the form to win their second-ever World Cup title. They will look to play quality football.

The Three Lions will have to be rock solid defensively against an equal French side and England have shown proper defending. While attacking wise they can be ever so threatening and get the goals to get the job done.

Boss Southgate will again line them up in a 4-3-3 system.

On the other hand, French the defending world champions will aim to somehow defend their world title and they will look to play their brand of football.

Les Bleus have been good defence wise and they will look to not show problems of the Tunisia game. Attack wise they aim to be clinical as ever.

Boss Deschamps will utilise a 4-2-3-1.

Team news and possible lineups

France are likely to go with the same XI in the previous game.

As for the English, Raheem Sterling is available and might play.

England XI : Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Bellingham, Rice, Henderson, Saka, Kane, Foden.

France XI : Lloris, Kounde, R. Varane, D. Upamecano, T. Hernandez, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Dembele, Griezmann, Mnappe, Giroud.

Prediction

It might not be as straightforward as it might seem as both teams are equal on paper. But definitely France being the previous winners have an edge. It should then be the French progressing to the Semi’s 2-0.
