FIFA World Cup 2022 – Australia vs Denmark, Group D, match preview, predicted lineups

Aus vs Den
In the first two games of Wednesday Qatar 2022 one of the games see Australia take on Denmark in Group D

Australia play Denmark on Wednesday in Group D in FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 6:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah

Denmark though they lost to the French still on paper at least are the second best team in the group. Their status will be put to test in the final group game against the Aussies.

The Danish know they are capable of holding teams with their backline. They will need to be more creative up front to pull off victory.

Boss Kasper Hjulmand will use a three-man defence likely on Wednesday in a 3-5-2 formation.

On the other hand, Australia will be delighted with their triumph over the Tunisians as they will be confident of coming into this contest. They need a victory.

The Socceroos were leaking goals earlier in their first clash of the tournament with France but kept a clean sheet versus the Tunisian side. They will again require defensive discipline against a much superior danish side. Attacking wise they have scored in both of their games and it will help.

In terms of the system for the fixture they will instil a 4-4-2.

Team news and possible lineups

Fran Karacic will again get the nod for Australia ahead of the Denmark fixture. As though Martin Boyle remains injured.

For the Danes, Thomas Delaney is injured and won’t be available.

Denmark XI : Schmeichel, Andersen, Kjaer, Christensen, Kristensen, Højbjerg, Eriksen, Maehle, Skov Olsen, Dolberg, Damsgaard.

Australia XI : Ryan, Karacic, Souttar, Rowles, Behich, Leckie, Irvine, Mooy, McGree, Goodwin, Duke.

Prediction

Expecting it to be fought fiercely for the 90 minutes given what’s at stake but I have a feeling of a Danish win here. Them to take this 3-1.
