Spain will play Switzerland on Sunday night in an international friendly
Spain are set to play Switzerland in an international friendly on Sunday night as both teams warm-up ahead of the 2018 world cup. Spain go into this game as the favorites.

Kick-off : 9:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Estadio de la Ceramica, Villarreal

Spain qualified for the world cup with ease and ahead of another giants Italy. Spain are amongst the favorites to lift the title. La Roja are in Group B in the world cup along with Portugal, Morocco and Iran.

Spain for now will warm-up for the tournament ahead by playing a couple of friendlies. They play Switzerland on the 3rd of June after which they play Tunisia on the 9th of June.

On the other hand, Switzerland had to struggle to qualify for the tournament in Russia. The Swiss came second in their world cup qualifying group behind Portugal and had to miss out on direct qualification. In the 2nd round they edged Northern Ireland to qualify.

The Swiss are in Group E in the world cup along with Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica.

So far Spain and Switzerland have played each other 5 times. Out of that the Spanish have won on three occasions while the Swiss have won once. One other game have been a draw.


Team news and possible line-ups

Granit Xhaka is doubtful for Switzerland for the weekend game.

As for Spain, Dani Carvajal will be unavailable as due to injury.

Switzerland XI : Burki, Lang, Elvedi, Djourou, Moubandje, Schar, G. Fernandes, Embolo, Dzemaili, Zuber, Gavranovic.

Spain XI : De Gea, Odriozola, Ramos, Pique, Alba, Thiago, Isco, Busquets, Vazquez, Asensio, Costa.

Prediction

While it’s not a given that Spain will win on Sunday night they certainly are the favorites. I expect them to get the job done and get a win. They might win 3-1.
