South Africa vs Bangladesh, 2022 – 1st Test match preview, predicted lineups

SA vs Ban
First Test of South Africa vs Bangladesh series will be played in Durban
After a splendid ODI series for the Bangla tigers this is now time for another major chapter in history to be written by winning a Test series on foreign land especially South Africa. Proteas on the other hand will be vary of the fact.

Date and Time : 31st March- 4th April, 10:00 AM Local Time

Venue : Kingsmead, Durban

Bangladesh have improved leaps and bounds in recent times and their cricket is starting to flourish. They recently won the ICC U19 World Cup and look to rock the cricketing world.

The Bangla tigers know they did extremely well in the recently concluded one-day series in beating a giant like South Africa in their own backyard. This is some sort of a dream for many big cricketing nations.

Bangladesh will have to play with same intensity in the Test circuit to win against top cricketing nations. They did very well in drawing the Test series 1-1 in New Zealand earlier this year and will be high in morale. They will be looking forward for South Africa tests.

On the other hand, South Africa despite being the favourites didn’t live up to expectations and faltered. They will look to bounce back against a formidable Bangladesh test side.

SA will have to play the Bangladeshi spinners well, a major tumbling block for them. Though it will be home conditions and which will mean more bouncy tracks I think South Africa will think twice before underestimating Bangladesh.

Many first team players will be unavailable and it’s time for SA youngsters to showcase their talent for SA. Dean Elgar will captain the team.

Bangladesh have never won a test match against South Africa and they will look to change the fact. Out of the 12 test matches played between them, SA has won 10 and two tests have ended in a draw.

As for the wicket in Durban, it will favour the pacers but batsman can survive. Toss will be important.

Team news and possible lineups

Their are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

Bangladesh XI : S. Islam, T. Iqbal, Shanto, M. Haque (C), S. Al Hasan, M. Rahim, L. Das (WK), Miraz, T. Ahmed, S. Islam, E. Hossain.

South Africa XI : Elgar (C), Erwee, K. Petersen, Bavuma, K. Zondo, Mulder, Verreynne (WK), Maharaj, Olivier, Sipamla, L. Williams.

Prediction

I think the team which will bat well should be able to save the Test match.
