New Zealand tour of India 2023 – 1st ODI, match preview, predicted lineups

Ind vs Nz
India take on New Zealand on Wednesday in the first one-dayer as the tour kickstarts

India take on New Zealand on Wednesday in the first ODI of the 3-match series as the tour kickstarts. India come into this game as the favourites.

Date and Time : 18th January 2023, 1:30 PM IST

Venue : Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad

Team India were fabulous in the 3-match ODI series recently concluded as they clean swept Sri Lanka 3-0. They will look forward to getting the job done against the New Zealand side now.

The batsman will again be tasked with getting the score. The bowlers on the other hand, will have to restrict the opponents.

Coach and captain will have to strategise according to the conditions and game plan in mind.

New Zealand, on the other hand will be looking to beat another Asian country after overcoming Pakistan in the recent tour. They will have to play quality cricket though.

Batsman will know that Asian conditions are hard for foreigners and they will have to adjust accordingly. Bowling wise they have the options and wil look to do a job.

Head coach Gary Stead will have the tactics in mind and will look to execute.

For the wicket, it will be good for batting.

Team news and possible lineups

Shreyas Iyer is injured and won’t be available for India.

While New Zealand have Matt Henry out injured.

India XI : Kishan, Kohli, R. Sharma (C), Gill, S. Yadav, H. Pandya, Sundar, K. Yadav, Siraj, Shami, U. Malik.

New Zealand XI : M. Bracewell, Mitchell, Santner, Latham (C), Finn Allen, Conway, Phillips, Ferguson, Tickner, Shipley, Sodhi.

Prediction

I expect India to be the dominant team in the home conditions but New Zealand to give a challenge. India to win in the end though.
