East Bengal play Mumbai City in 2022-23 ISL on Friday on match day 11

East Bengal take on Mumbai City on Friday in 2022/23 ISL on match day 11 as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 7:30 PM IST

Venue : Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata

East Bengal are not having that sort of a season which they would have ideally liked but definitely points on board should give them confidence moving forward. They are currently 8th in the points table with 9 points from 9 games. The goal difference is a -5.

The Red and Gold Brigade defence haven’t been up to the mark and it has what cost them games, they need to be solid defensively. On the attacking front they need to convert their chances.

Manager Stephen Constantine will use his 4-4-2 formation.

On the other hand, Mumbai City have been performing the best among teams this season and are undefeated. They are second on the points table with 21 points from 9 games. The goal difference is healthy +17. They will look to keep up the good work.

The Islanders defence have been quiet good and they will require similar efforts moving forward. Attack wise they have been good and it has what have won them games and will look to exploit opposing defences.

Manager Des Buckingham will go with his tried-and-tested 4-3-3 formation.

Team new and possible lineups

Jordan O’Doherty & Souvik Chakraborty are both doubtful for East Bengal ahead of the weekend fixture.

As for the Mumbai side, Amey Ranawade is injured and won’t be available.

East Bengal XI : K. Singh, A. Mukherjee, Lalchungnunga, I. Gonzalez, J. Lalrinzuala, VP Suhair, A. Lima, C. Kyriakou, N. Singh, Haokip, C. Silva.

Mumbai City XI : Lachenpa, Bheke, Griffiths, Mehtab Singh, M. Dessai, Apuia, G. Stewart, Jahouh, Chhangte, J. Diaz, B. Singh.

Prediction

I think despite the home advantage, East Bengal will still be the underdogs against a good solid Mumbai side. But I just have a feeling this game might end in a 2-2 stalemate.
