India tour of West Indies 2022 – 1st T20I, match preview, predicted lineups

WI vs Ind
India and West Indies resume their cricketing rivalry in the T20I format with 1st T20I on Friday

Team India and The West Indies kickstart the T20I leg of India tour of West Indies 2022 as the tour moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Date & Time : 29th July 2022, 10:30 AM (Local)

Venue : Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad

India completed the clean sweep in the 3-match one-day series with some confident performance with both bat and ball. They must now address the T20I format with the same authority.

Coming to the squad, India have named a strong squad as Rohit Sharma captains the Indian side. A lot of wicket-keeping options have been included. Spinners will also work magic in the Caribbean. Plus good batters are key in India.

It is a 5-match series with the next game on the 1st August.

On the other hand, West Indies will be very disappointed being able to not win a single game on home soil against a good Indian side. They will aim for a better outcome in their favoured format.

Windies much like India have changes in their T20I squad from the ODI squad. Some notable names like Obed McCoy, Odean Smith & Shimron Hetmyer return.

Coming to the wicket, The batsman should score here with bowlers specially spinners extracting from the surface.

Team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

India XI : R. Sharma (C), Pant (WK), S. Iyer, S. Yadav, D. Karthik, Samson, H. Pandya, R. Ashwin, K. Yadav, B. Kumar, H. Patel.

West Indies XI : Mayers, King, Brooks, Hetmyer, Pooran (C&WK), Powell, Holder, H. Walsh Jr., O. Smith, A. Joseph, McCoy.

Prediction

I expect India to start as favourites in this game but a lot to depend on the toss.
