India look for a winning start against Australia in Chennai

Chennai ODI
India will play Australia on Sunday in the 1st ODI
India and Australia are set to play each other on Sunday as Australia’s limited-overs tour of India commence. India go into this game as the favorites as they are in fine form.

Date and Time : 17 September 2017, 1:30 PM IST

Venue : MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

India having trumped Sri Lanka in all three formats recently will be very confident of success against the mighty Aussies.

Virat Kohli and co. have been winning at home and away in recent times quiet a lot. Even in March, when the Australians toured India for a 4 test series, the latter won 2-1.

Australia on the other hand, doesn’t have a proud record in the sub-continent in recent times. For example, in the recent Test series in Bangladesh, they lost one match out of two.

It will be quiet hard for the Aussies to improve their record in Asia on this tour but I think it should be a good competitive series.

Team news and possible line-ups

David Warner and Steve Smith will be available for Australia on Sunday. While Smith will also be captaining Australia.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will not be available for the Aussies in this series. Although they still have a lot of depth in their bowling.

Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner and Pat Cummins will be the key man for Australia.

As for India, Shikhar Dhawan will not be available for the first three ODI’s due to family commitments. So, India will likely play Rahane in his place.

Rest of the India XI remains the same as in SL, with the exception of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, who have been added into the squad.

Australia XI : Warner, Smith (C), Handscomb, Maxwell, Stoinis, Wade, Faulkner, Coulter-Nile, Zampa, Agar, Cummins.

India XI : Kohli (C), Rohit, Rahane, M. Pandey, Jadhav, Dhoni, Pandya, Axar, Bhuvneshwar, Chahal, Bumrah.

Prediction

I expect India to beat Australia on Sunday.
