Italy will take on Argentina in the Finalissima 2022 game as the champions of Europe meet champions of South America. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Italy football team have failed to qualify for 2022 FIFA World Cup later this year as they already missed out on the 2018 tournament as well which is disappointing . They though made amends last year by lifting the Euro and will now look to win the Finalissima.

Tha Gli Azzuri last played a match in March this year, a friendly against Turkey which they won.

Looking at the current squad ahead of the final agains Argentina, they have got some special and good players like Lorenzo Insigne, Verratti, Jorginho & the retiring Chiellini. Manager Roberto Mancini will likely use the 4-3-3 system aiming to defend well and score.

On the other hand, Argentina football team have already qualified for the 2022 FIF World Cup and will utilise games before it to practise ahead of the biggie. This time they face fellow heavyweights Italy in the Finalissima.

La Albiceleste last played a game in March against Ecuador, a friendly, a 1-1 draw.

Current squad has good players all around with Captain and maestro Lionel Messi leading them. Manager Scaloni will most likely use the 4-3-3 formation and will look to score to win in 90 minutes.

In terms of the head to head, Italy lead 6-5 against Argentina out of the 15 games played between the two sides with 4 games ended in a draw.

Just for general information, there will be no extra-time if it’s a stalemate after 90 minutes and we will straightaway see Penalties.

Team news and possible lineups

Domenico Berardi and Andrea Pinamonti are both injured and hence won’t be available for Italy.

As for Argentina, they have a fully fresh squad to choose from.

Italy XI : Donnarumma, Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Emerson, Barella, Jorginho, Verratti, Zaniolo, Scamacca, Insigne.

Argentina XI : E. Martinez, Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna, De Paul, Rodriguez, Lo Celso, Messi, L. Martinez, Di Maria.

Prediction

I expect this one to be very close as both teams will give their all but Argentina seems to have an edge.
